The start of the classification is scheduled for 6:20 p.m. (02:20 a.m. on Friday in Lisbon), with Pichardo, fourth in the 2019 Doha World Cup, in group A, and Pereira, 12th in the hierarchy, with 16.90 meters as the best mark of the year, after setting his personal best in 17.11 in 2021 in the B.

The Benfica thrower set the national record at 84.78 meters in May, entering the competition at Eugene2022 with the ninth best mark, in a hierarchy headed by world champion Anderson Peters from Granada with 93.07.
