23:34 Sainz gets a brand new engine and starts the French GP from behind

Carlos Sainz will start the French Grand Prix on Sunday from the back of the grid. The Spaniard got a completely new engine for the third free practice. This is the result of the fire of his Ferrari in Austria.

Sainz retired from the Red Bull Ring when something went wrong under his hood. While it was burning, he put the Ferrari aside for a while, where the fire broke out and caused a lot of damage.

The Ferrari driver was already at the limit on most engine parts. All parts of his car were replaced and he received a completely new power supply.

According to the Madrid driver, Ferrari was always in consultation at the right time to make the adjustments for the free practice sessions. He needed a new engine anyway.

Crossing the Paul Ricard Circuit is much easier than crossing the Hungaroring in Hungary next week, which is why France was chosen.

Sainz is currently fourth in the championship, 75 points behind World Cup leader Max Verstappen.
