Warning! Steph Curry will miss the rest of the regular season

Golden State Warriors leader Steph Curry has been out of action until at least the start of the “playoffs” after injuring his left foot in the game his team lost to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday after colliding with Marcus Smart.

Curry suffered an injury that affected the ligaments in his left foot, but the tests he underwent last night ruled out fractures or serious injuries, the NBA said in a note, citing US media.

The 34-year-old Warriors base will undergo other tests in the coming hours to learn more detail about the time it will take for his recovery.

He was injured in the second quarter of a 110-88 loss to the Celtics when Marcus Smart ducked for a split ball and landed on his foot, causing a striking sprain.

Curry left the field on foot, but was unable to participate and his game ended with three runs, the result of a triple in four attempts.

The Warriors interrupted a run of five straight wins and won’t be able to count on their star until the start of the “playoffs”, scheduled for mid-April.

Steve Kerr’s team is third in the Western Conference (47-23), behind the Memphis Grizzlies (48-22) and the Phoenix Suns (56-14).

“I think it was a dangerous move (from Marcus Smart). I thought he jumped on Steph’s knee and that’s why he was angry. I have a lot of respect for Marcus, he is a great player, very competitive, I coached him in the worlds a few summers ago. We talked after the game and everything is fine. It just seemed like a dangerous move and I told him so,” Kerr assured at the end of the game.
