The realization of the prologue and the first stage of the Volta a Portugal by bike will regulate traffic and parking on Thursday in Belém, Lisbon, and on Friday in Vila Franca de Xira, the PSP warned this Tuesday.
In the Volta prologue, on Thursday, the delegation will pass the city circuit on Avenida da India, in the vicinity of Belém, affecting road traffic, so the authorities recommend as an alternative, mainly to public transport, the use from Avenida de Brasília, through the Viaduct of Pedrouços.
The PSP also warned that all citizens traveling by car to the city of Lisbon should follow the warnings regarding traffic restrictions and detours on the variable information panels, namely on Ponte 25 de Abril, Highway 5, Eixo Norte/Sul and Segunda Circular.
Avenida da Índia will close on Thursdays between 07:00 and 21:30 traffic between this avenue and Avenida Torre de Belém and the viaduct Rua de Cascais/Alcântara, Praça Afonso de Albuquerque, Rua Mécia Mouzinho de Albuquerque, Travessa da Guarda and Travessa da Galé. The connection between Praça do Império and Rua Bartolomeu Dias will also be closed to road traffic (between 13:30 and 19:00).
The CCB Street will be closed to road traffic from Wednesday 08:00 and Thursday until 21:30 and the traffic closure at Arruamento Largo / Rua das Oliveiras will take place from Thursday until 21:30.
Until 22:00 on Thursdays, parking is prohibited in Arruamento Largo, in the street of Centro Cultural de Belém, in Parque dos Pinheiros and in front of the Museu da Marinha and in Rua de Belém/EMEL park.
On Friday, the 1st stage of the Tour will take place, with a symbolic departure from Parque Urbano do Cevadeiro, in Vila Franca de Xira, so from 12:15 pm there will be traffic jam in the intersection of this city and in the intersection of the Marechal Carmona bridge towards Porto Alto – Reta do Cabo.
In the note, the PSP calls on citizens to follow the instructions of the police officers posted along the track, watch the race in the places indicated, “away from the shoulder and without disturbing the circulation of cyclists”, not cross or circulate on the streets of passage for athletes and do not go to places restricted to pedestrian traffic to avoid gatherings, such as the start and end points (next to Jerónimos Monastery).
