President of the Republic congratulates canoeing champions Fernando Pimenta and Kevin Santos

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, congratulated the canoeists Fernando Pimenta (K1 5000 meters) and Kevin Santos (K1 200 meters), who became European canoeing champions, in Munich, Germany.

In addition to the gold, Pimenta also won a silver medal in the K1 1000 meters and a bronze medal in the K1 500 meters, Marcelo said, in a note published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic.

The President also congratulated Norberto Mourão, who won bronze in the VL2 200 meters at the European Paracanoe Championships, also in Munich, and Angélica André, who won bronze in the 10 km Open Water event at the European Swimming Championships, in Rome Italy.

Portugal has had, in recent days, “excellent performances in various championships, modalities and disciplines,” reads the note, which indicates that “national records were broken.

“In addition to the medals won, the rest of the results and participations deserve the recognition promised by the President of the Republic and public praise to all those who with dedication and commitment, including athletes, coaches, technicians, directors and family members, made these events possible. achievements of which all Portuguese are very proud”, concludes Marcelo, in the note.
