20:00 FC Volendam loses to Go Ahead Eagles despite 1000th goal Eredivisie

The Go Ahead Eagles achieved their first league win of the season at FC Volendam on Friday evening. Coach René Hake’s team won 2-3 thanks to two goals from Bas Kuipers, who had not yet scored in their previous 118 Eredivisie matches.

Due to the loss, Volendam is in sixteenth place in the Eredivisie with four points from six games. At number seventeen in the standings, Go Ahead is one point closer to Volendam. Only Fortuna Sittard is goalless in the Eredivisie.

Go Ahead lost the first five league games, so Hake’s team left Volendam with little confidence. Midway through the first half, however, the visitors were cheered thanks to Bobby Adekanye. He came at the feet of the attacker, who made the 0-1 with a knocked over corner.

Go Ahead couldn’t use the lead for long. After half an hour of play, Carel Eiting saves the ball at the entrance of the penalty area and hits the far corner. He scored Volendam’s thousandth goal in the Eredivisie. This makes Volendam the twentieth club to reach this limit.

After the break, Volendam created a few chances, but Go Ahead goalkeeper Jeffrey de Lange kept his goal free for a long time. With fifteen minutes to go, Kuipers finished 1-2 for Deventer against expectations.

The captain was alert from a corner and completed an attack well. He scored his first Eredivisie goal in 119 games for Kuipers.

Minutes later, the defender also decided. Kuipers again escaped the attention of the Volendam defender from a corner and managed to run into the ropes with 1-3 on half a bike. At the time of injury, Robert Mühren was leading 2-3 for the hosts, but that was in Volendam.
