PSV failed to beat Norway’s number 2 in the Europa League

The draw was PSV’s second disappointment in Europe this season. In the play-offs of the Champions League, the Brabançons had to admit their superiority over Rangers FC. The first defeat in the Eredivisie fell on Saturday. FC Twente was very strong with 2-1.

With victories against Ajax on the Johan Cruijff Scale and against AS Monaco in the Champions League, the good feeling of the start of the season has now been lost at PSV.

Coach Ruud van Nistelrooij stepped in after the disappointing match against FC Twente. PSV left a lot of space and opportunities for Enschede before the break. Defender André Ramalho lost the starting point. Jordan Teze took his place in the middle of the defense and Phillipp Mwene started as right back.

Yorbe Vertessen had a lead for the first time this season. The Belgian started hastily. In the previous two league games, Xavi Simons had taken the place in the absence of the injured Luuk de Jong, but was relegated to midfield against Bodø/Glimt. Ismael Saibari was preferred over right front Johan Bakayoko.

Just before half time, the Norwegians scored

Saibari created the first danger in the 4th minute, but the Bodø/Glimt goalkeeper stopped his attempt. After more than half an hour of play, PSV took the lead. But Vertessen sent the ball auta into a promising position.

Bodø/Glimt scored shortly before the first half. The Norwegians quickly switched after Vertessen asked for a penalty. Albert Grønbaek entered the penalty area from the left side of the penalty area and shot the ball into the far corner: 0-1.

PSV would come after the break. Van Nistelrooij brought in Sávio and Anwar El Ghazi after more than an hour of play, El Ghazi was immediately important. Former Ajax player Cody Gakpo sent a piece into the depths. The international effectively scored after a sprint: 1-1.

For PSV it was nothing but goalkeeper Benítez who thanked him twice for staying the same in stoppage time. PSV fans showed their displeasure with a flute concert.
