3 De Vries to F1 in Italy to replace Williams Albon driver

Nyck de Vries will make his Formula 1 Grand Prix debut for Williams on Sunday. The 27-year-old Dutchman replaces Alexander Albon in Italy. The British-Thai driver is said to have appendicitis.

De Vries has already completed three free practice sessions for Williams this season, including in Spain. Last Friday he drove the first free practice of Aston Martin at Monza. Sneek’s driver drove Sebastian Vettel’s car.

Albon was not feeling well on Saturday morning and is currently being treated for appendicitis. According to Williams, the British Thai is doing well and will be confirmed in a tweet later.

De Vries became Formula E champion last season

De Vries has recent experience in the Formula E category, where he won the title for Mercedes last season. He also regularly participates in the WEC endurance championship.

De Vries said on Friday that he is in talks with several Formula 1 teams for a seat in 2023. De Vries still has some opportunities, especially at Williams. This shed has yet to confirm Nicholas Latifi will have a seat next season.

In the third free practice session at the Monza circuit, De Vries came into action and set the fourteenth time. The pre-selection will take place at 4 p.m. The race starts on Sunday at 3 p.m.
