Samsung responds to demand for smartphones and chips

Samsung made much more profit in the first months of this year. The South Korean company has benefited from strong sales of smartphones and memory chips.

Samsung’s profit rose 50% in the first quarter to 11.1 trillion won (8.3 billion euros converted). The benefit was also higher than the experts expected.

Performance was better than expected, especially in the memory chip department. In addition to smartphones, chips are also installed in, for example, cars. The demand for servers and computers was also high. In addition, customers increasingly want chips with more storage capacity and chips with higher performance.

According to Samsung, the demand for the chips will remain high. Mobile device sales have been hurt by curfews and rising commodity prices, partly as a result of the war in Ukraine. That is why the company does not want to make a forecast for the rest of the year.

Samsung is considered a beacon in the tech industry. The company is the largest maker of memory chips and can count Apple among its customers. Samsung is also the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.
