Apple lets US customers repair their iPhones themselves

Apple allows US customers to repair their iPhones themselves. From Wednesday they can request parts, tools and manuals via the tech giant. SideI

The repair program was announced last year and is currently only available in the United States. It is unclear if and when the program will come to the Netherlands. Apple says it plans to expand the service to other countries as well.

The service is currently only available for the third-generation iPhone 12, 13, and SE. Later, the program will be extended to new Macs with the Apple-developed M1 chip.

When Apple announced the service last year, the company said it would sell a total of about 200 different parts, along with the corresponding vehicles. The company offers discounts on purchased parts, while returning old parts to Apple.

Consumers should be able to make the most common repairs themselves as a result of the replacement. This mainly concerns screen, battery and camera repairs.

Apple isn’t the only company to offer such a repair program. Samsung also announced a similar service that should be available to US customers starting next summer.
