Study: Half of iPhone owners own a device that is four years old or older

Telecompaper reports this on the basis of a survey among 1800 Dutch people.

Currently, 8% of all Dutch people use a new iPhone 13, which was released in four versions last fall. An equally large group of Dutch people continues to use the iPhone 8 in 2017, the most commonly used among iPhone models that are at least four years old.

Teenagers are more likely to have a new iPhone

The research shows that Dutch teenagers (18 to 24 years) more often use a newer iPhone model. For example, the share of the iPhone 13 among young people is double that of all Dutch iPhone owners.

According to Telecompaper, teens often prefer the “regular” version of the iPhone. “The latest iPhone Pro and Pro Max models are often too expensive for teenagers.” Teens who own these Pro and Pro Max editions often end up with older models that they bought after the prices dropped or as pre-owned ones.
