Early WhatsApp users get emoji responses and bigger groups

WhatsApp has started rolling out updates that will gradually be added to users over the coming weeks. These include the emoji reactions option and group chat doubling.

According to WhatsApp reports, groups can now contain up to 512 people. This is double the current maximum. The chat service reports that the increase in groups is one of the most requested innovations.

WhatsApp has also started rolling out previously announced updates such as emoji reactions. This allows you to paste an emoji directly into a message sent by someone else. This way you reply with a photo without sending a new message. This is especially useful in groups, because discussions are less likely to overflow.

It is now also possible to share files up to 2 GB with others. Previously, the maximum size was only 100 MB. WhatsApp believes this feature will help small businesses and school groups distribute videos and documents.
