Foldable phones currently on sale can only be folded in one direction. LG can change that. The company showed a concept smartphone screen that can be bent in two directions. This is called a “360 degree bendable OLED”.
The foldable phone consists of a screen on both sides, so it doesn’t matter how you fold it. The screen has a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels and can withstand 200,000 bends. This number is comparable to foldable phones from competitor Samsung. It is not yet known whether LG will actually bring this device to the market.
Newer folding screens
At the SID 2022 display event in California, LG leaned even further, including a flat gaming screen that folds up at the touch of a button for even more immersion. LG also showed a screen that can be folded like a laptop. Lenovo launched a laptop with a foldable screen last year.
