TikTok is also launching a subscription

TikTok has already announced a subscription to live streamers and will be rolled out to the first group of creators on Thursday. The new feature gives paying fans access to all kinds of extras such as private chats with TikTokker that only subscribers can participate in. Subscribers also get access to badges associated with their profile name and special “emoticons” specially designed by the creators.

“Predictable monthly income”

TikTok says this subscription could be a way to generate “predictable monthly revenue” as opposed to sponsored videos. Until recently, this was the only way to make money on TikTok. Earlier this month, the video app also announced that it will be sharing a portion of its ad revenue with popular creators for the first time. It looks like a YouTube model. Some live streamers on TikTok were also able to receive individual donations from viewers.

TikTokkers must be 18 years or older to offer or purchase a paid subscription. In addition, creators must have at least 1,000 followers. According to TikTok, the affiliate program is currently available by invitation only, but will roll out globally at a later date.
