Review site Trustpilot removed 2.7 million fake reviews last year. That is 5.8% of the total number of reviews, the platform reports in a transparency report on Tuesday.
About 1.8 million reactions were detected and removed with special software. 190% increase compared to 2020.
Trustpilot sent 1,425 letters to companies abusing the platform last year. This is an increase of 38% compared to 2020. Action was taken against Avis dealers in twelve cases.
In addition, 121,048 automatic alerts were issued to companies that violated the guidelines. 210% increase compared to 2020.
Last year there were a record number of reviews on Trustpilot: 46.7 million. This is a quarter of the total number of reviews since the launch of the platform in 2007. The Dutch left 2.1 million.
