Samsung to compete with Apple with new mobile chip

The South Korean manufacturer is setting up a special working group for the development of the new mobile processor, which will start in July. South Korean news site Naver reported that the group is known internally as the “Dream Platform One team.” According to the site, the task force will have more than 1,000 employees.

Samsung has been making mobile processors in the Exynos line for years, but they often outperform competitors from Qualcomm or Apple. A recent partnership with AMD for an Exynos GPU has not been very successful either. That is why Samsung wants to change course internally with the next generation of mobile chips that should hit the market by 2025. According to previous reports, Samsung is also working on a separate chipset for its smartphones Galaxy S.
