Google Drive users can now cut and paste files using their keyboard in the Chrome web browser. This will allow files to be moved to other locations in Drive more quickly, Google said in a blog post.
Previously, cutting and pasting files in Drive was only possible with the mouse. You can also drag the files to the desired location with the mouse.
Google writes that you can use the same keyboard shortcuts for the web version of Drive as for Windows and Mac. You can now use the keyboard shortcuts ctrl+C (or cmd+C for Mac), ctrl+X, and ctrl+V to copy, cut, and paste Google Drive files into your Chrome browser. The feature is rolling out gradually, so it’s not available to all users yet. Distribution of the update started on Thursday and could take up to a week. It is unclear whether the feature will eventually be available in other browsers such as Firefox and Safari for the web version of Google Drive.
