Apple tried to keep the RealityOS brand a secret, but tech journalist Parker Ortolani discovered that Apple was hiding behind the unknown company Realityo Systems. Six months ago, the RealityOS trademark was registered with the US Trademark Agency, USPTO. The brand is part of the “portable computer equipment” categories.
To prevent plan leaks, Apple is increasingly using shell companies to register trademarks and patents for unannounced products. Realityo Systems is registered at the same address as Apple’s previously vacant BVs. Realityo Systems appears to have registered the RealityOS trademark in several countries, including South America and Africa.
Some of these trademarks are registered with a logo using Apple’s proprietary typography, 9to5Mac reports. The records still contain some details that indicate an unreleased product.
Glasses
RealityOS will be the name of the new operating system for Apple’s next AR/VR glasses. Earlier this year, the name was already in the source codes.
Apple is said to be working on two glasses: a mixed reality headset that offers both AR and VR for professionals, and lighter AR glasses. The second pair of glasses might not be ready in a few years, but mixed reality glasses could hit the market later this year or later.
