HBO Max: The Old Series Coming Soon

The streaming service, where HBO and Warner productions can be seen, has been in service in the Netherlands since Tuesday. Viewers noted that some classic series, such as The Sopranos and Game of Thrones, aired slightly faster than the original releases. Including 3FM DJ Mark van der Molen reported issuesI

Difference Between Europe and USA

The European standard for video files is 25 frames per second instead of 24 frames as in the United States. As a result, the European screen shows an extra frame every second compared to the original American version.

“We will be converting titles to a 25 fps broadcast format in the near future,” said a spokesperson for HBO Max. It is not yet known when exactly this will happen.

The problem is more frequent. At the end of 2021, many viewers complained when the NPO gave a “speed-up” concert by Adele. This made the singer’s voice seem louder than usual. NPO then adjusted the images so that Adele sounded normal during a rehearsal.

Problems with payments and captions

HBO Max had payment problems in the first days after its launch in the Netherlands. As a result, some people could not access the service or had to pay twice the subscription fee despite payment. These problems have now been resolved, the streaming service reports.

HBO Max acknowledges that many Dutch subtitles are currently missing. “They will be added in the coming days and weeks,” a spokesperson said.

Netflix’s competitor

HBO Max is a major competitor to Netflix, offering games like The Matrix, Batman, Dune, Succession, Harry Potter, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, and Sex and the City.

The streaming service brings together movies and series from HBO, Warner Bros., DC and Cartoon Network. HBO Max also has Warner Bros. It distinguishes itself from the others by presenting its films 45 days after the cinema premiere at no extra cost.
