Enexis is one of the six most important grid operators in the Netherlands with more than 3 million customers in Groningen, Noord-Brabant and Limburg, among others. De Limburger reports that some of these customers have not been able to read their smart energy meters in recent weeks. In October last year, Enexis also reported problems with reading smart meters.
Due to the malfunction, customers cannot view their own meter readings and consumption. Therefore, some users have to manually pass the meter reading to their energy supplier. The cause of the malfunction is said to be a switch to a new computer system. “Last year we migrated to a new computer system and that sometimes causes malfunctions.”
According to Enexis, the change was necessary because support for the legacy system was discontinued. In October it was reported that the malfunction will be partially resolved, but this is not yet complete.
