Apple to further differentiate iPhones and introduce new HomePod

Renowned Bloomberg writes that Apple is on the cusp of “one of the most ambitious new product eras in its history.” Apple’s most popular product, the iPhone, will again receive four models this year: two regular models and two Pro models.

These Pro models would stand out more than before the regular iPhone 14 models. The iPhone 14 Pros would get a new, faster A16 chip, while the regular iPhone 14 models would keep the same A15 chip as the iPhone 13. The 14 Pro would get an improved selfie camera, an improved 48-megapixel camera on the back .

always on screen

The thinner-edged screen would now have a “pill-shaped” hole for the camera and face scanner, instead of the signature screen cutout. The iPhone 14 Pro’s screen would also have an always-on function, so information is always available.

In the recently released iOS 16, the iPhone lock screen is being overhauled: users will soon be able to embed widgets similar to Apple Watch widgets.

The regular iPhone 14 models will be the same size as the Pro models: 6.1 and 6.7 inches. This means that the Mini model has been canceled after previous disappointing sales stories.

Lightning, no USB-C yet

Bloomberg reports that the controversial Lightning connector is still on iPhones this year. Apple wouldn’t switch to USB-C until next year; this is now a standard connection to almost every other device on the market, including Apple’s MacBooks and iPads. Apple will eventually have to switch to USB-C: Europe will make USB-C mandatory.
