The Facebook homepage has been renewed: there will be two types of previews. One contains posts, photos, and videos that Facebook thinks you’ll want to see, and the other shows the latest posts from your friends, Pages, and groups you follow.
The Facebook app opens with a special tab of posts selected by the Facebook algorithm. This tab is called Home. In addition to messages from friends and relatives, messages and images from sources you do not follow will also appear here.
“Our discovery algorithm will suggest the content we think you’ll like the most,” Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wrote on his profile.
In addition, there is a tab called Feeds. This is where posts, videos, and photos from friends, relatives, Pages, and groups you follow appear. In this overview, the algorithm doesn’t shuffle the content: the most recent post is always at the top.
In the feed, you can create a favorites list of friends and pages that interest you most. This allows users to filter out messages that they perceive as noise. Zuckerberg calls it one of the most requested options by users.
From Thursday, new tabs will be added to the app. It may take a week for everyone to see them.
