Tensions soar between Turkey and Greece. According to reports in the Greek newspaper Kathemerini, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a clear warning to Greece, accused of carrying out “military provocations in the Aegean Sea” with the militarization of some islands. A gesture that would betray the NATO agreements.
“Greece’s encouragement, which militarizes the Aegean islands, is incompatible with logic and with the alliance. We warn the Greek administration to stay away from challenges that will lead to disaster itself and its people,” said Erdogan, who also reiterated that he will not approve the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO until the promises made in Ankara in the request to Sweden not to receive more Kurdish exponents that Turkey considers terrorists are kept: “Until then our principled position will not change” said the Turkish President .
