North Korean nuclear tests, the Pentagon: “Threat to stability”

If North Korea were to carry out a nuclear test, it would pose a serious threat to international stability. Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder told a news conference.

“As you know, there have been indications in the past that North Korea is preparing for a seventh nuclear test,” he said. “If they were to conduct this test, from our perspective it would clearly be a serious escalation and would seriously threaten regional and international security and stability,” Ryder added.

The reaction also came from Farnesina during the day. “Italy expresses the strongest and most decisive condemnation of the recent escalation of missile launches by North Korea, which culminated in the launch of a ballistic missile on October 4 that flew over the territory of Japan. We express our full solidarity with Japan and the Republic of Korea. Italy reiterates its urgent and strong appeal to North Korea to end the program for the development of weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner, ensuring full compliance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. Italy also remains firmly committed to collaborating with all partners and allies to achieve the goal of peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and preserve the rules-based international order.” So a note from Farnesina.
