The image shows a girl in her prime, of innate beauty, with her light eyes and long blonde hair. He sticks out his tongue as he looks into the lens, next to his new car. It’s a photo of Emerald Guard, 18 years old. In June 2020, she was strangled to death by her drug-addicted boyfriend at her home in metfordin Australia.
The photo was taken by a family friend, Tania Simshauser, just three days before the brutal killer: the last time Mrs. Simshauser saw the young woman still alive. To her, the girl was like a daughter. The shooting was made public two days ago by the victim’s mother, after the conviction of her murderous boyfriend last October 6th: Jordan Brodie Miller22, will have to serve 11 years in prison and another 13 on parole for the murder of Esmeralda.
After strangling her to death, the young man was found stunned by police. “If you go into the bathroom, you’ll find him inside, the devil. Help me!”, the young man had told the agents when they showed up at the couple’s house. Also Miller, in the river of his delirium, told the police that he had “a spiritual enlightenment after taking acid” and that “the devil was trying to suck his soul”.
During the trial, defense attorney Peter Krisenthal argued before the judges of the Newcastle Supreme Court that his client suffered from “undiagnosed chronic schizophrenia,” exacerbated by habitual drug use.
But prosecutor Lee Carr rejected that argument, arguing that the drug’s psychotropic effects on the young man’s mind were the main reason behind his violent actions. According to the complaint, net of drug use, lthe assassin was therefore perfectly aware “that he was killing a human being and not a demon who cursed him.”
Miller was a sophomore college student and part-time gas station employee. From the investigation, it was found that the boy had been using drugs since he was 14 years old – in particular Cannabis and LSD – always taking care to hide his excesses from the people around him. But investigators did not find that the young man developed real psychiatric pathologies after his drug addiction.
“She wasn’t a demon, she was my daughter and the absolute love of my life – the victim’s mother reportedly told Ms. Simshauser, outside of court – Emmy died because she loved and trusted a monster.”
