Russia-Ukraine War, Glimpses of Peace? “Never say never”, which happens in negotiations

“Never say Never”. These are the words used by Yuri Ushakov, foreign policy adviser to Vladimir Putin, when commenting in a press release on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s refusal to negotiate with Russia. “Everyone knows Zelensky’s statements that he will not negotiate with Putin. In this regard, I will just recall the famous phrase ‘never say never’”, said Ushakov, quoted by the Tass agency. “Russia never refuses to negotiate, but if its partners do not want to make contact, Moscow will not impose itself,” added the Kremlin’s diplomatic adviser on the possible meeting between the Russian president and US President Joe Biden. “As for Biden’s statements that he sees no point in meeting, I can say that Russia never refuses negotiations and any useful international contacts. We never reject an outstretched hand, but if we feel and understand that a partner for one reason or another does not want to meet us, we do not impose ourselves”, states Ushakov.
