These are the requests made by the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyat a table dedicated to his country during the fall meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The Ukrainian leader spoke in a video conference listing three intervention chapters. The first is the request for the creation of a “permanent working group” to estimate Ukraine’s financial needs and coordinate collection among contributing countries.
Second, he asked to “intensify collaboration for theassistance and the rebuilding of what was destroyed”Third, Zelensky asked for” specific tools to support the investment and stimulate the economy”and in particular “we need a mechanism to protect projects from military risks”.
“Today we have become target of a Russian terrorist attack with over 100 bombings, missile strikes and drone strikes – he said – . A third of the energy infrastructure was damaged. The man who appropriated Russia will not stop until we force Russia into peace, with him or without him,” he said in reference to President Valdimir Putin.
“The more assistance Ukraine will receive before the war ends. A cruel war that, if Ukraine resists, will not spread to other countries. With increasing intimidation from Russia, we must respond with even greater force. And that – concluded Zelensky – is possible with your support, support”.
The director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, responded positively to the request in the permanent forum, stating that it will be created as soon as possible. While according to US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, aid disbursements are expected to increase.
