Vladimir Solovyov, the ultra-sovereign journalist and ultra supporter of Vladimir Putin, is also changing his mind about the war in Ukraine. The Russian state TV presenter has always supported the special operation in Ukraine, but now things seem to have changed.
As Newsweek reports, BBC reporter Francis Scarr analyzed one of the latest tweets from Solovyov who filmed the phases of one of his prime-time talk shows: “We’re sure Vladimir Solovyov isn’t starting to doubt that the launch of “Special military operation “was such a brilliant ideal?” reads the caption of Scarr’s tweet.
“Now let’s look at the question of rationality. This is perhaps the most interesting question,” Solovyov said in the clip, according to the translation provided in the video. “Soon it will be almost eight months of operation and… well, clearly it’s not a special military operation anymore.
Scarr himself reports that after that apparently not-so-Putinian tweet, Solovyov posted another strong – and usual – condemnation of Ukraine that “it was really preparing for war and that, for that reason, Russia is now facing Born.” .
This apparent reflection point for Solovyov comes as the war in Ukraine shows no signs of stopping.
However, Newsweek was unable to independently verify when Solovyov made these comments.
A video by Solovyov once claiming that a war with Ukraine would be “the worst crime you could imagine” has also gone viral. The 2008 footage shows the reporter speaking at the Moscow Arts Theater and says there will never be a conflict between the two countries.
Scarr posted the video to his Twitter page on Wednesday and the clip has been viewed over 1 million times so far.
