New Russian attacks on Kiev regionwhile the battle to maintain control Kherson for Moscow is getting more and more difficult. Ukrainian forces launch an offensive towards Berislav, in the southern Kherson region, the area where Russian troops are most exposed and suffer the greatest logistical supply problems.
Ukrainian troops, in the early hours of today, started the artillery barrage, then went on the offensive with forces composed of two tactical groups with armored battalions and motorized infantry. One of the groups attacked Russian positions near Novaya Kamenka from Novogrigorovka, the other hit the town of Dudchany.
In recent days, Kiev forces have accumulated troops and vehicles and carried out reconnaissance on the forces, also using sabotage and intelligence gathering groups. Yesterday, a series of attacks were launched in the centers of Dudchany, Pyatikhatka and Ischenko, but they were repulsed. The Russians, on the other hand, carried out a few assaults against Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near Sukhoi Stavka, without achieving significant results.
UK intelligence: “Russian reservists should buy the jacket”
Meanwhile, in the usual intelligence update on the war in Ukraine, the British Ministry of Defense makes it known that many Russian reservists are “probably” forced to to pay for your pocket armor. According to London – reports the Guardian – the average amount of personal equipment that Russia was supplying its mobilized reservists was “almost certainly less than the already scarce supply of previously mobilized troops”. Many reservists will likely have to buy the armor, especially the modern 6B45 vest, which sells online for 40,000 rubles (about US$640), up from 12,000 rubles in April.
Zelensky thanks Biden for new weapons
Ukrainian President Zelensky this morning expressed “sincere gratitude” to Joe Biden for the new $725 million military aid package that the United States will provide to Ukraine. “We will receive much needed bullets for the Himars and artillery in particular. A splendid gift for Defender of Ukraine Day,” he tweeted, adding that “the Russian aggressor will be defeated and Ukraine will be free.”
