Covid, in China is still an emergency. There are more than 5,600 cases of Covid-19 recorded as of Sunday, November 6 in China, based on the findings of official statistics. It is the highest number of infections in the last six months. Similar data, by the way, had not been recorded since May 2nd. Despite containment measures still in place, outbreaks in the country therefore appear to be increasingly widespread, especially in southern China, where there are important manufacturing hubs.
For this reason, despite rumors that seemed to fear a easing of policy against Covid, China’s National Health Commission reiterated its willingness to maintain a “zero tolerance” regime against the virus: “The practices adopted so far have shown that our prevention and control plans and a series of strategic measures are completely correct.” Meanwhile, in Beijing, some schools were closed in the most populous district, Chaoyang.
