Terrorist attack in Belgium. Two police officers were stabbed in Brussels, in the Schaerbeek district, on the rue d’Aerschot, near the Gare du Nord. One of them died from his injuries. The assailant, on the other hand, was shot and wounded by another patrol who intervened at the scene. According to some local media, the attacker shouted “Allah Akbar” as he made the gesture.
According to the first reconstructions of the Belgian media, the man had presented himself today at noon at a police station in Evere (prefecture of the capital), announcing his intention to commit an attack against the police. Under the supervision of a magistrate, he was taken with his consent to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Apparently, he was later released. In the evening, around 7:45 pm, the man carried out his plan: armed with a knife, he attacked two agents on duty Schaerbeek, in a street adjacent to the Gare du Nord. One of the officers, shot in the neck, died. The other is hospitalized, as is the aggressor himself.
