United Kingdom, King Charles’ gesture to employees: salary increase with personal money

In the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth to win the love of the people. King Charles III plans to increase his co-workers’ salaries by £600 a month (about €678) to help them cope with the rising cost of living in the UK using personal income. Revealing the kind gesture is the tabloid The Sun. Inflation in the country is equal to 10.1% a year and the measure concerns Buckingham Palace employees who receive less than 30 thousand gross pounds, the equivalent of 33,900 euros, while those with a higher salary will be entitled to a smaller increase.

There is currently no official confirmation of this indiscretion, published in view of the presentation, next Thursday, of the measures of the new government of Rishi Sunak to overcome the crisis. The increase will be financed by the King’s personal income, namely what he earns from the possessions of the Duchy of Lancaster, some 18,000 hectares of land in the north of England which, according to press estimates, generates around £20 million a year. and property in central London and therefore will not be a burden on taxpayers.
