As the Atlantic capital celebrated its first carnival day, authorities reported three murders between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning. The crimes took place in less than 10 hours.
Two of the murders were committed with a bullet, while the other was shot with a knife. Events that took place in the Los Ángeles, San José and La Victoria neighborhoods.
The first took place at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Carrera 19 with Calle 36, near San José, where a young man who has not been identified was killed by two firearms strikes, presumably for resisting the theft of his belongings. †
Six hours later, the murder of Kevin Meléndez was reported. The man was chatting on Calle 119 with Carrera 12B, Los Angeles neighborhood, southwest Barranquilla, when he was cornered by two men riding a motorcycle; one of them took out a firearm and fired it at him, killing him instantly.
