Estonia and Latvia also react. As Poland’s government, hit on its territory by two Russian-launched missiles, is calling an emergency government meeting, Estonian Foreign Minister Usmar Reinsalu is relying on Twitter to send a message.
“The latest news from Poland is the most worrying. We are in close consultation with Poland and other Allies. Estonia is ready to defend every inch of NATO territory,” Reinsalu tweeted, adding his “total solidarity” with the allied country after Russian missiles landed on Polish territory, killing two people.
Immediately after the news of the Russian missiles spread, statements of solidarity and concern also arrived from Latvia. “My condolences to our Polish brothers, the criminal Russian regime fired missiles not only against Ukrainian civilians, but also hit NATO territory in Poland,” wrote Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks on Twitter.
