I ask you to be close to the people: Pumarejo to graduate police officers

A total of 252 new police officers graduated at the ceremony on Friday morning, December 2, in the Police School Antonio Narinolocated in the municipality of Soledad.

Mayor Jaime Pumarejo Heins, during his speech, ordered the new uniformed officers to work closely with the people to contribute to the security of Barranquilla.

“It must be said: those hugs, those tears, those happy families show us what is happening here today. There are 500 families fulfilling the dream these young people had of entering the country National Police. Some come in to make a career, others so that this is a springboard to fulfill other dreams. But these families see today that the effort they made was worth it and that their children will have a guaranteed income, but in the same way they will enter to honor the fatherland, “said the president in front of the graduates .

And he continued: “We have asked them to be close to the Barranquillas, to get to know them, to greet them and to become their friends, but also to be firm against the bandits.”

“We know that starting tomorrow there will be more security because these young people will be an additional pillar of support for the metropolitan of Barranquilla,” Pumarejo noted.

The process of awarding scholarships to enter the Police Academy began in May of the previous year, and some 500 young people, both men and women, were eligible.

The remaining 248 uniformed officers attended other training schools, but will be linked to the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police.
