He pretended to be a British engineer to steal money from a 70-year-old lady. In doing so, he managed to trick a 70-year-old woman from the province of Perugia. According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, everything was born of “an innocent response to a friend request on Facebook” of the self-styled engineer, continued with a “sentimental conversation” also through other social networks.

The scammer initially presented himself as a “sweet, kind and helpful person” until he declared himself a woman, gaining her trust. At that point the”engineer” he began to make a series of economic requests, justifying himself with excuses such as not being able to access some bank accounts or having to undergo urgent medical examinations. The 70-year-old technician, convinced of good faith, had initially accepted their requests, donating a total of almost 20 thousand euros.

Despite the speed in identifying the alleged perpetrators, also thanks to searches and subsequent analyzes of the computer resources carried out by specialized personnel, the agents were not able to recover the goods stolen from the victimreadily spent on goods of various kinds.
