“The man that I am is angry and I would like to spend 5 minutes alone in a cell with the psychopath who took away our Athena, but there is a soft, gentle voice in the other part of my head telling me that I must forgive him… ” These are the words on Facebook with which the grandfather of Athena Strand, The 7-year-old girl who was killed after being kidnapped from her Texas home on Wednesday admits she is ready to forgive the man responsible for her granddaughter’s death.
Tanner Lynn Horner, Messenger, 31 years old, is arrested on charges of first degree murder and aggravated kidnapping regarding the shocking case. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said the man confessed while being questioned by police.
Saturday, the day after the discovery of the niece’s body, Mark Strand made his thoughts public. Athena’s grandfather is convinced that the voice telling him to forgive the murderer is God🇧🇷 “If I allow this hatred to consume me, that voice will fade and eventually be silenced. Then that nasty feeling of hatred will succeed and that is why this gentle voice persists in telling me that I must forgive this man,” writes Mark in his letter on the social networks.
Based on his faith, Strand is finally convinced that he will somehow acquit Horner. “Not an ounce of my flesh wants to do this or say this, but my spirit heard the voice of God and now, as tears flood my eyes, I publicly declare that I forgive this man!Strand wrote.
Meanwhile, Wise County officials are asking the community to wear Athena’s favorite color, pink, on Monday. Numerous events are scheduled that day to remember the savagely murdered child.
