A ninth child has died of strep A, as experts say parents are right to be concerned
A ninth child has died after contracting Strep A. The BBC reports that a five-year-old girl fell seriously ill last week and died in hospital.
Children at Black Mountain Primary School in Belfast were invited to a clinic to be seen by a doctor and given prophylactic treatment with antibiotics.
BBC News NI reports that the girl was being treated in intensive care but died on Monday.

“Traffic problem” on the A40 in Carmarthen
Traffic monitoring service Inrix has posted the following update: “Reporting a traffic issue on the A40 between the A4242 (Pontlesneven Junction, Carmarthen) and the A477 (St Clears Junction, St Clears).
The direction and obstructions will be confirmed when the police arrive at the scene to investigate.”

Police are expressing “genuine concern” for a man who has been missing for over two weeks.
Police said there was “real concern” for the well-being of a Cardiff man who has been missing for nearly three weeks. Dean McGann, of Grangetown, was last seen on Clive Street walking towards the Ferry Road at around 4pm on 17 November.
The 36-year-old man spoke to his father via cell phone at 4:30 pm that day, but has not been seen or heard from since. He is described as white, 1.80 m tall and of medium height. He is originally from Pembroke and has previously worked on boats and as a local welder.

Rare full displacements may lead to prescribing antibiotics for children after eighth strep death
Elementary school children affected by a strep outbreak may be given antibiotics as a general preventative measure, which is considered “rare” according to health officials.
A government minister has presented a plan in response to the eighth child death from the infection. According to i, the “very unusual” step would be to give penicillin or an alternative antibiotic to all one-year-olds who have been affected by a case of Strep A, even if they don’t have symptoms.

A man was stabbed after an ‘argument’ in Swansea
A man has been stabbed to death following reports of an “argument” at a Swansea address. Police were called to Avenue Elan, Claes shortly after 6.40pm on Sunday 4 December to find an injured 60-year-old man.
The man was taken to the hospital, but his condition is not fatal or life-altering. Two people, both from Clase, were arrested and are in custody.
A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of battery assault, and a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of intentional bodily harm and criminal mischief by an 18-year-old.
