A rugby union referee has been found not guilty on two counts of rape following a trial. It has been alleged that he raped the teenager in Bute Park in Cardiff, allegations he has vehemently denied.
Simeon Greenway-Robbins, 20, was charged with pushing the victim to the ground as she entered the park and ripping off her clothes before raping and strangling her on 10 November 2020. The defendant, of Rectory Close, Caerphilly, said that the sex between him and the victim was consensual.

He vehemently denied raping the victim, who remained anonymous for life, telling a friend he “wouldn’t be accused of anything I didn’t do”.
After a trial at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday, Greenaway-Robbins was found not guilty on two counts of rape. The pediatric nursing student was told by Judge Neil Bidder KC that he was cleared and could leave the bench. The judge thanked the jury for the care they had shown in reaching the verdict.
