“The Kremlin does not see any prospect of peace talks in Ukraine at this time, given that Russia is expected to achieve the objectives of the special military operation.” That’s what Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Journalists asked Peskov to comment on a recent statement by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken that the conflict in Ukraine would almost certainly end with diplomacy and negotiations leading to “a just and lasting peace”. Peskov’s response was blunt: “We can agree that the result should be a just and lasting peace. As for the prospect of negotiations, we don’t see that for now. We repeat it several times,” Peskov said. And to the question of what should happen for the Kremlin to see this prospect, Peskov replied: “The objectives of the special military operation must be achieved. Russia must and will achieve these objectives,” Peskov replied.
