The revolution in Iran between protests and repression – yesterday the first protester was hanged and the police shot women’s genitals and breasts – concerns us all and Dario Fabbri explains why. The director of the geopolitical magazine “Domino”, guest of the morning talk of LA7 “Omnibus, on Friday, December 9th, focused its attention on the role of the USA which, since 1979 (the year of the attack on the embassy in Tehran) had personally interrupted diplomatic relations with the eastern country. On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, the United States opened a virtual embassy to dialogue with citizens, but within 24 hours the Ayatollah regime blocked the page.
In this regard, Fabbri observed: “America was moved by two motivations: one noble and the other instrumental. The noble one is not leaving the regime the possibility of repressing the demonstrations even more harshly and the other is the Iranian nuclear power. They don’t want a negotiation that is already going very badly to collapse definitively. In recent weeks, the Americans have increased pressure on the regime, but until two months ago, that is, at the beginning of the revolt, they asked for great caution”.
Iran supplies weapons and drones to Russia, which has invaded Ukraine for 10 months. A very precarious situation that also concerns gas: “Now the Biden government is increasing pressure on Iran because it has less confidence that the nuclear deal will go ahead, saying that the negotiations have become impractical – the analyst concluded -. And it is difficult to even think about replacing Russian gas with Iranian gas, as was believed until some time ago”.
