Iran, actress Taraneh Alidoosti arrested for spreading falsehoods on social media

The Tehran government’s hard fist against dissidents continues. This time to pay the price is the actress who starred in the Oscar-winning film “The Client”, directed by Asghar Farhadi. Authorities arrested one of the country’s most famous actresses, Taraneh Alidoosti, accused of spreading lies about the anti-government protests that have taken place in the country since mid-September. The information was released by the Iranian state news agency IRNA.

Alidoosti is the star of the Oscar-winning film “The Client”. The arrest came a week after he posted an Instagram post expressing solidarity with the first protester to be executed for alleged crimes committed during nationwide protests. According to the news published on the official Telegram channel of the state media, Alidoosti was arrested because she did not present “any document that corresponds to her claims”.
