As temperatures begin to drop, Warm Centers in Bridgend have begun to provide their communities with a cozy space to stay warm and safe.

Services available at some district centers include Wi-Fi access, restrooms, as well as activities and refreshments, and are intended to provide an accessible and welcoming environment to help residents reduce home heating costs and help those facing fuel shortage this winter.

Adviser Rhys Goode said: “It is absolutely vital that we continue to provide residents with as much support as possible through the winter and current cost of living crisis. One way to achieve this is to work with key partners such as Awen, the Welsh Government and other local organizations to create initiatives such as the Warm Welcome Programme.

“It’s great that this program can offer a wide range of support in a relaxed and friendly environment. It’s also great to see that this support will be offered across the county and easily accessible to all residents.”

From November 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, every Monday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Beach.

On Wednesdays, in addition to the 21st and 28th of December, the theater will encourage those working from home to get their daily work done at the Oriel Bar with free hot drinks and Wi-Fi to keep productivity levels high.

On Friday nights, from 2pm to 4pm, the Dining Hall offers free live music concerts by the UK’s top musicians. Tea and coffee will be provided free of charge. It is not necessary to book tickets in advance.

Blaengarw Workmen’s Hall will have Work Mondays every week in the studio from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Creative Cwtch every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm and Free Music Fridays in the main hall from 10am to 12pm.

Avena Libraries in Bridgend will remain open as normal through the winter with free Wi-Fi, magazines, newspapers and books, space to relax, read or work and a weekly program of activities that includes craft classes, reading groups and storytelling.

With funding from the Welsh Government’s Place to Connect campaign, which highlights the important role libraries play in supporting people’s health and well-being, free hot drinks will be provided and puzzles and board games will be available to all customers. .

Library staff will also be available to help members use public computers to access the Internet, and are well placed to provide people with reliable, high-quality information and other organizations that can offer support during a cost crisis of life.
