The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, holds a meeting of the defense council, during which he defined the goals of the Russian army for 2023. Among the first points desired by the head of the Kremlin, is increased combat capabilities of the Moscow Aerospace Forces. “Today, the military potential and capabilities of almost all NATO countries are being actively used against us,” he said during the expanded meeting of the College of the Ministry of Defense. “In all territories of the Russian Federation, including new ones, a safe life will be guaranteed for Russian citizens.”
The reference also covers the 4 regions attached recently in Ukraine by referendum. The Russian president also underlined that the “objectives of the current special operation will be achieved” and that “the security of all Russian territories will be guaranteed”. Therefore, the head of the Kremlin wanted to “reassure” Russian citizens about the progress of the war and announce to his ministers that he wants to continue the war, most likely for a long time.
“Our soldiers – he continued – fight bravely like those who faced Napoleon, those of the two world wars”. “Confrontation with hostile forces in Ukraine was inevitable, even if I consider the Ukrainian people as brothers of the Russians. The situation in the country is tragic because the West has done everything to exacerbate the conflict.”
Saramat ballistic missiles
The Russian president also announced that Saramat intercontinental ballistic missiles, considered the flagship of Russia’s new military programs, will be deployed soon. The statement came a few hours after US President Joe Biden announced Washington’s green light to send Patriot missiles to Kiev. “We know that some adjustments are foreseen – continued Putin during his speech – but that does not change our plans and everything will be implemented”.
The head of the Kremlin then announced that the new hypersonic cruise missile Zircon will be included in the Russian fleet in early January.
the nuclear forces
Putin also announced that Russia will continue to improve the combat readiness of nuclear forces. In fact, it is one of the top points on the list of Russian military goals for 2023.
