New course for the territories of Ukraine annexed by Russia. The leader of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, has presented a draft of a new constitution for the region, controlled by pro-Russian authorities and annexed by the Kremlin in September. As anticipated by the speaker of the local parliament, Denis Miroshnichenko, quoted by Tass, this new constitution could be approved next week.
“The Constitution was presented to the People’s Council, is being analyzed by the competent commission and is subject to all the necessary legal procedures”, said Miroshnichenko, referring to the delay in approving the text due to the fact that “it is not an ordinary law that can be examined quickly”. But now it could receive the “green light” soon, he guaranteed, because “there are no obstacles”.
