The spokesman also confirmed that Biden will unveil a new aid package during the visit that will help Ukraine “fight against Russian aggression”.
A senior US government official confirmed in a call to reporters that Zelenskyy will be in Washington for just “a few hours” and will meet with Biden at the White House, then address lawmakers in the plenary session of the national congress. .
During the visit, the US president will announce the delivery of a new $2 billion military aid package to Ukraine, including the Patriot missile battery, a highly effective missile defense system that Kiev has been requesting from Washington for some time.
The United States is a key ally of Ukraine in open conflict with Russia and in recent months has approved multimillion-dollar economic aid and weapons packages to help Kiev defend itself against the Russian military invasion.
