Djokovic leaves successful coach Vajda after 15 years

“Marian stood by me in the most important and unforgettable moments of my career. We have achieved incredible things together and I am so grateful for his friendship and dedication over the past 15 years. “He may leave the professional team, but he has a family and I cannot thank him enough for everything he has done,” Djokovic wrote on his website.

According to Djokovic, he and Vajda have been separated since last year’s ATP Finals. Djokovic was not admitted to the Australian Open earlier this year because he has not been vaccinated against the corona virus. It is for this reason that he failed to qualify for the Australian Open, and partly because of this he lost the world number 1 to Daniil Medvedev of Russia this week.

“During my time at Novak I have been privileged to see him grow into the player he is today. I look back on our time with great pride and am incredibly grateful for the achievements we have had. I will remain the greatest. ” We look forward to support and new challenges on and off the track.”

Djokovic led the world rankings for a total of 361 weeks. In 2019, he added Goran Ivanisevic to his roster and the Croatian player remains in the team.

Last week, Djokovic made his big comeback after a hiatus of several months. He did not get further than the quarterfinals in Dubai. It is not clear what his schedule will be for the coming months, as it depends on measures related to the corona virus.
