Police in Torrance, California, found the body of the man suspected of the Monterey Park attack in a white pickup truck that killed 10 people.
Television footage showed a body slumping over the wheel of that truck.
This was later confirmed to be the case of Huu Can Tranum, a 72-year-old man who self-inflicted injuries that caused his death.
Local media reported that the man committed suicide.
A semi-automatic weapon was found at the scene and is already being analyzed to confirm if it is the rifle used in the attack.
Police believe it was a single attacker, though they still don’t know the motives.
A man shot dead 10 people and wounded at least 10 others at a dance hall during a Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday night.
According to eyewitness accounts, the shooter is an Asian man between the ages of 30 and 50, law enforcement officials said.
Police said they did not know if the attack was racially motivated. Five of the victims were men and five were women.
