5-year-old Imogen Lennon choked to death after taking a bite of his favorite snack. The tragedy occurred before the eyes of their mother, Samantha, as the two of them were returning to their home in Canowindra, in the west-central part of New South Wales, Australia. The story took place on January 16, but only in the last few days has the family found the strength to tell it to the Australian media.
According to a local media recap, the girl was in the back seat of the car and was on her way home after swimming lesson. Tired from her recent sports activity, the little girl would ask her mother for her favorite snack, some kind of hot dog. But just one bite of that snack went sideways, preventing her from breathing she. Panicked, the woman immediately called an ambulance, but they were all too far away at that moment, so it was the mother herself who took the baby to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite the rescuers’ intervention, Imogen died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
On her GoFundMe page, which opened a fundraiser for Imogen’s funeral, she described the family’s great grief: “Despite Sam’s heroic efforts, calling the hospital, and helping a passerby, it was Samantha herself who would accompany her. She took her daughter to the hospital because they were too far away to intervene. It is inconceivable to make sense of such a tragic loss in this way, there are no words that can fully describe how shattered Imogen’s family is. It is impossible to imagine a life without Imogen.”
