A man has died near a railway line in North Wales. British transport police were called to the tracks outside Abergele & Pensarn station on Sunday morning (29 January 2023) following reports of an accident on the tracks.

Doctors also arrived, but unfortunately the person died instantly. The incident is not being treated as suspicious. There were also several police cars at the scene, and the area around the pedestrian bridge was closed off by the police.

Transport Wales also confirmed that the rail lines between Chester and Llandudno Junction were closed for several hours while replacement bus services were offered. On Sunday, the service reopened at 12:00.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Police officers were called to the line outside Abergele & Pensarn station at 8.25am yesterday morning (January 29) following reports of a casualty in the vicinity of the tracks. were also present, and sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a case will be prepared for the coroner.” Rail lines were re-established yesterday at 11:35 am.
